How are Inflatable Animals Made?

Updated: Mar 15

Giant inflatable animals are display decorations made of heavy duty vinyl materials that are inflated with a continuous blower system. We manufacture them in various shapes and sizes which range from small, about 5-6 feet, to larger-than-life-sized replicas.

The process of making inflatable animals involves several steps. First, the design of the animal is created using computer-aided design (CAD) software. As a matter of fact, we use state-of-the-art design software to not only shape the inflatables but also create intricate textures and line up print patterns since inflatables can be large. Whenever an inflatable is big, we have to section it off into different pieces for the final design to be printed onto a large piece of our very flexible and heavy duty material.

When the vinyl is finally printed, it is then cut into individual pieces and sent to our sewing department. The shape of the animal is cut out from the printed roll using a high-precision cutting machine. The cut-out pieces are then sewn together using an industrial sewing machine with a high grade thread to ensure that the seams are durable.

Once the inflatable animal is fully assembled, it is inflated with using a dedicated blower system that is included with every inflatable. They are durable, lightweight, and easy to transport, making them a practical choice as outdoor displays or temporary installations.

How Long Do Balloon Animals Stay Inflated

The length of time that balloon animals stay inflated can vary depending on several factors, such as the type of balloon used, the quality of the balloon, and the environment in which they are kept.

For the most part heavy duty inflatables require a constant blower system to keep them inflated but we also manufacture sealed inflatables with an internal bladder. Those are only inflated once and the inflatable sustains itself for months at a time.

How to Inflate Animals Balloons

If you are inflating an inflatable animal for display purposes, the process may differ depending on the specific type of inflatable animal and the environment in which it will be displayed. Here are some general steps that may be helpful:

  1. Choose an appropriate location: Make sure you have enough space to fully inflate the animal and that the area is clear of any sharp objects or potential hazards. In particular keep in mind that the footprint for the inflatable will require at least 3 feet all around.

  2. Setup the Blower System: Since we include the blower system on our inflatables all you need to do is find an outlet and plug it in. If the blower is large, we will add a duct that extends from the inflatable for you to attach it to, but it is very straightforward.

  3. Inflate the Animal: Once the blower is properly attached, turn it on and make sure to fill it evenly to avoid any lumps or deformities. Depending on the size of the inflatable animal, this process may take several minutes or longer.

  4. Secure the inflatable: Securing the inflatable is very important. We provide preinstalled tethers on all of our inflatables so that you can secure it to either eye bolts, sand bags or any other tethering point that will prevent it from being blown away by the wind.

With proper care and attention, inflatable animals can make eye-catching and unique displays for a variety of settings.
